Should actors and other SAG members take a pay cut?

In today's NY Times, there is an article entitled: "Hollywood puts squeeze on talent" in which the studios are described as having a difficult time with new realities such as web-downloading and pirating with the result that they believe their industry is under siege. Not being able to attract audiences to theaters as they used to and with a flat DVD marketplace they are now moving to cutting costs, particularly from SAG members, as a way to improve their bottom line. Is this a reasonable step for them to make or is there another way out for them to try to get movies to the marketplace and make money doing so? James
