Best Places to Shop for Boutique Items to Sell!

I have been selling on okay for over 5 years with Friends and Family and just starting again. I have found through research and countless mistakes I have made on okay that it doesn't always pay to buy brand new items to sell, unless you can sit on them for a long time till they sell for what you need them to sell for. I originally started off buying a ton of Clearance Gymboree, but my shopping trips would always cost me $200-$300 easily. I would then hit up Nordstrom rack for Boutique or Last Chance (Phoenix Only). Most times finding myself making only a few dollars off each item and having high listing fees due to the prices I had to list them at.
So I finally decided to re-look at what I was doing and I wanted to make a bigger profit margin, so I got out my phone book and started looking up every re-sale shop and thrift store in my area. This has proven to work for me. I even volunteered at a Non-Profit thrift store and was able to get first pick and most items I only paid $1 for.
Here are some helpful store hints:
Savers - has a 50% off tag everyday and every Monday they have .99 tags.
GoodWill - has a 50% off tag everyday and every Thursday they have 1.00 tags and usually once a month the entire store is 50% off.
Salvation Army - has a different sale each day!
Most Resale shops will have a clearance section - you will also find that not all resale shops know Boutique items when they see them. Last fall I bought a Juicy Couture Terry Cloth jogging set for $4.99 and sold it for $27.99, I just bought a Baby Lulu dress at another shop for $2.99, not yet listed. It pays to do your research and shop through the thrift shops and resale stores.
Here are some examples of great deals I found and what they sold for.
Girls Lawman Western Jeans NWOT paid .99 sold for $27
Boutique Handmade The Grinch who Stole Christmas Set paid 1.00 sold for 65.00 last Christmas
Juicy Couture Terry Set paid 4.99 sold for 27.99
Oilily tee paid 1.00 sold for 24.99
Alot of my Gymboree and Janie and Jack I normally can get for $1 and try to keep most of my prices below $10
So as you can see, if you shop smart, you will spend less and make more. Check out my items I have listed and you will see how low I am able to keep my prices.
Please rate this if you found this helpful, thanks!
