Hermes - Dans les Branches de l'Ombu? Part 1.

This Hermes "Dans les Branches de l'Ombu" designed by Hubert de Watrigant became the number one fake of 2006. The detail is photo accurate and includes the Hermes copyright and artists signature. These are no longer a guarantee that the scarf is genuine. The detail is prefect but sometimes the colours are slightly off. As a general rule Hermes people and horses should be natural colours. If people have green faces, or there are purple or green horses, thenthe scarf is a fake!
Red scarf, natural faces and horses...genuine.Green faces, purple horses.....FAKE!

Bright colours, natural horses ...genuine ............Bright colours and purple horses..FAKE!............

UPDATE December 2008
Sometimes the colours look good but closer inspection shows that the so called "photo-accurate fakes" are not quite as accurate as appears at first glance. This green fake recently appeared on okay. Look at the quallity of printing of the signature and copyright...AND...you will notice in these photos that the hem isrolled to the back. Hermes silk twill scarves MUST have a forward rolled hem to be genuine.
FAKE with thin shaky "Hermes"........................... Genuine with clear and sharp printing...................

FAKE poor quality, subtle differences and wrong hem.... Genuine sharp print and nice forward rolled hem........

These subtle differences are virtually impossible to see if you have nothing to gepare, which is why you should always ask for photos of the care label if they are not already supplied. It was this care labelthat immediately gave it away as.......
.....................................FAKE!..................................

Have a look at myGuide on Care Labels if you don't know why this label is wrong.
Do look at what else the Seller has listed or sold recently. If they have dealt with several of the same design recently, and other designs discussed in these guides, then treat them with extreme caution. There are no Hermes discount warehouses.
And have a look at this FAKE below: that is a fake Hermes invoice, you can see that the scarf is way too small in the box (there should be verylittle space left in the box) and if in any further doubt you can see the fake label sticking out half way along the edge. (The label should be in the corner....check out my Care Label guide again!)

Have a look at my Hermes Dans les Branches de l'Ombu? Part 2 for further pointers on this design.
