Now, I personally know alot of people who have had problems with their PS2 and don't know how to fix it. Somehave actually went out and boughten new systems when all it takes is a simple 5-10 min system to determine if the system actually does need replacement.
Here Go's:
1. First, before anything simply press the reset button located on the back of your PS2. This is often a problem if you've left it on for days. Pressing this refreshes the system and helps it functions better.
2. Now, after that, the next easy step is simply disconnecting all the cables from the system and then reconnecting them and testing the system out. This seldom works but it's worth a try.
3. If that doesn't do the trick, chances are it might be the lense. They're many products out their to fix this problem and alot of them work great. However, I find that usually the only thing you need is damp cloth and a duster. Start by opening the drive and dusting out anything visible on the drive and the rest of the system, after that use the damp cloth and clean the drive and all the system till it's shiny. This often fixes dirty systems.
4. If nothing has worked so far don't just go out and buy a new system. Their is one last technique that I only regemend if your familiar with electronic wiring. If not, do not try this, it is potentially dangerous. Before you start getting out your tools, just so you know this will void the warrenty if there's one left. What you want to do is make sure everything is disconnected and then remove the top of the system by unscrewing the screws. Remember only do this if you know what you're doing!!! Look around tosee if you can spot any problems and if so either weld the spilt wire back together or use an appropriate amount of electrical tape around the wire. Be careful though because using too much could be dangerous and flammable. After that sput the system back together and test your work.
Now, hopefully I've helped you fix your current system and possibly saved your wallet from a deflation of money. If you seriously love your PS2 though you should always care for it properly and follow these guidelines:
1. Always remove discs after playing.
2. Always shut down the system properly and turn it off using the button on the back.
3. Clean your system at least once a month to prevent any unfixable problems.
4. And last but not least don't forget about it! If you leave your PS2 out for months with no care or playtime the entire system will collect dust. If you decide to start it up one day after a situation like that; the system will try to run itself with dust everywhere and possibly ruin itself from trying to hard.
Anyway guys, thanks for reading this. It brings me joy to know that I've helped someone so please, don't forget to vote.
Thanks Again And I Hope I Helped,
Justin
